Ursula graduated in August 2004 from the Erasmus University Rotterdam, specialising in corporate law and international law. During her degree, she spent one semester studying at Florida State University in the United States.
Following a period of student internships, Ursula started her career in 2005 as a trainee lawyer at Allen & Overy, in the mergers & acquisitions practice group. Here, she gained extensive experience in private equity and venture capital transactions, joint ventures and restructuring. Following Allen & Overy, she moved to the merger and acquisition practice of Holland Van Gijzen Advocaten & Notarissen in Rotterdam.
Ursula joined the corporate world in 2012, and worked for several years as a corporate lawyer and corporate secretary at Equens and its subsidiary PaySquare. During her time here, she was part of a large team of lawyers, where she was responsible for translating financial laws and regulations into an organisation-wide policy and for implementing the compliance policy within the organisation. She maintained contacts with regulators (the Central Bank of the Netherlands – DNB) and coordinated the regulators’ self-assessments. She also supervised various transactions within Equens and PaySquare.
At Hermes Advisory, Ursula supports projects and is responsible for the corporate housekeeping.
